THE Melody memory is an interactive, xylophone-based development game that combines the classic “Simon Says” principle with music education. During the game, children can not only test their memory, but also get to know pitches, rhythm and solmization sounds in a playful way.

How does it work?

The aim of the game is to accurately recall and play back the melodic sequences played by the xylophone. In contrast to visual memory games, auditory (after hearing) memory takes the main role here: the flashing of colored audio tracks and the ringing sounds together help the recording.

  1. Choose a song: In the Path Selector, you can choose from popular children’s songs such as Sorry, sorry, motley, a Tabby cat or the Bake up Sun!.
  2. Listen and listen: The xylophone plays a short passage at a given tempo (BPM). Then the bars of the virtual xylophone will flash.
  3. Repeat: Click on the tracks in the exact order you heard them. The notes are marked with colors, solmization names (Do, Re, Mi…) and notation (C5, D5…) for easier orientation.
  4. Continue: After each successful round, the melody gets longer. If you mess up, the game gives you the opportunity to start over, so success is guaranteed.

What does the game develop?

Melody memory supports the development of basic cognitive and musical skills in a complex way:

  • Musical hearing and sense of rhythm: It helps you recognize the difference between pitches and keep the tempo of the song.
  • Color-sound association: The unique colors assigned to the notes help beginners visually orient themselves and later learn sheet music.
  • Concentration and attention: Annotating sequences requires long-term, focused attention.

Availability and Levels

The game offers a number of free-to-play basic melodies, which make practicing enjoyable with unique, lovely illustrations (e.g. snail, ladybug, snowflake).

THE premium version more complex tunes, more difficult courses and longer sequences are available to its subscribers, which are excellent for leisure activities at home or even as a supplement to singing and music lessons at school.
